'At The Phoenix' Mini Series Wraps + Screen Canberra Arts Funding

It's been a super busy couple of weeks at VP HQ and amazing to think how much can happen when a few good minds come together!

First up, our digital series Open Heart Therapy has had its first table read with a full cast of local actors. Over a couple of hours, the writers and producers were privy to the binge that is OHT and which has so far spent over 12 months in development. The scripts will now undergo some fine tuning before entering the next phase of development/financing.

We're also privileged to announce (for those of you that aren't aware already) that Vorfreude Pictures and Sanguineti Media have launched our first official co-production, a mini series titled At The Phoenix. The series was created by Sebastian Chan, Joshua Koske and Daniel Sanguineti and is a 6x8min series for Facebook starring Brendan Kelly, Kaitlyn Boyé, Colin Giles and Jasmin Shojai.

The series follows Richard, a bartender during his first few weeks on the job at The Phoenix pub and all the craziness he encounters while trying to find love. Stay tuned for a release date and more info!

Finally, we''d like to congratulate director and writer Meg Donnelly for receiving an ACT Screen Arts grant from Screen Canberra and the ACT Government for the production of her short film The Sacred. Meg's project is one of six that received funding for 2019 and we're pleased to be partnering with her to develop and produce the film.

The Sacred is about a teenage girl who is blinded when faced with the choice between following her desire for love and sex, or her spiritual calling. She must navigate her purpose and feelings in order to accept her path and regain her sight.

Marisa Martin will direct and mentor Meg, Sebastian Chan and Ash Robertson will produce.
